PowerPoint-Karaoke in Bochum: When cluelessness suddenly becomes a stage program

On Friday, October 23, 2026, the METROPOLIS cinema in Bochum's main train station transforms into an arena for spontaneous punchlines, bold performances, and presentations with maximum surprise factor. Starting at 7:30 PM, candidates will take the microphone and present slides they have never seen before.

Stand-up without a safety net

PowerPoint-Karaoke works like an improvisation night with an extra dose of office madness: the presenters know neither the topic nor the slides and still have to project competence. Whether it's a zombie apocalypse, Napoleon, or prestressed concrete – every topic becomes a springboard for absurd explanations, surprising leaps of thought, and situational comedy.

Timing, courage, and the art of convincing nonsense

The format combines stand-up, improvisation, and the dramaturgy of a poetry slam. After an introduction by the Essen moderator and poetry slam performer Zwergriese, participants showcase their stage presence, even when the red thread is about as stable as a Wi-Fi signal in a basement. Key factors are timing, interaction with the audience, and the ability to conjure up seemingly groundbreaking insights from even the most obscure graphics.

The audience has a say

The audience reaction is a crucial part of the show: after the presentations, spectators vote on which performances are particularly convincing. In the finale, there awaits another unknown presentation. Thus, the evening remains open until the last slide – and every fit of laughter can influence the course of the show.

Participation is explicitly encouraged

Those who want to not just watch but jump into the cold presentation water themselves can register for participation. The open format is aimed at newcomers, experienced stage performers, speakers, teachers, and anyone who wants to test their improvisation skills with humor. Upon confirmed registration, admission for the own performance is waived.

Comedy atmosphere in the cinema hall

The METROPOLIS provides the perfect backdrop for this unusual laughter experience: cinema hall instead of conference room, large screen instead of small laptop, and a stage where every click can lead to a potential punchline. For about two and a half hours, quirky knowledge, spontaneous rhetoric, and collective laughter come together.

Conclusion: PowerPoint-Karaoke Bochum offers a comedy night full of surprises, improvisation, and wonderfully controlled chaos. Those who want to experience how great punchlines emerge from unknown slides can secure their tickets and experience the format live at METROPOLIS.
