Soul Theater: Baroque Sound Worlds with the Bochum Symphony Orchestra
On Saturday, November 14, 2026, the Great Hall of the Anneliese Brost Music Forum Ruhr in Bochum will transform into a stage for musical drama, virtuosic lines, and finely layered sound colors. At the BoSy Concert Soul Theater, works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Pietro Locatelli, Antonio Vivaldi, and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach will meet.
Between Opera and Instrumental Concert
The program takes us deep into the expressive world of Baroque music. Vivaldi's Concerto grosso in g-minor, the Sinfonia to the opera L’Olimpiade, and the renowned Violin Sonata La Folia combine rhythmic impulse with theatrical tension. Locatelli's Il pianto d’Arianna also carries that vocal expressiveness that gives Baroque instrumental music its unique stage character.
Virtuoso Violin and Transparent Conducting
At the center is Raphael Christ on the violin and in the musical direction. Together with the Bochum Symphony Orchestra, a concert evening is created that focuses on precise synchronization, chamber music attentiveness, and colorful orchestration. Bach's A minor Concerto for Violin, Strings, and Basso continuo, as well as Vivaldi's E minor Concerto, promise finely drawn solo passages and intense dialogues between the violin and the ensemble.
A Musical Rollercoaster of Emotions
The title Soul Theater refers to the emotional power of the program: tension and calm, plaintive melody, and animated sound speech are closely interwoven. The finale is Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach's Symphony in B minor H 661, whose sensitive style directs the gaze beyond the Baroque order into a new musical era.
Live Atmosphere at the Music Forum Ruhr
The concert takes place in the Great Hall of the Anneliese Brost Music Forum Ruhr, a central concert venue of the Bochum Symphony Orchestra. The historical architecture of the building and the concentrated acoustics create the perfect setting for an evening where every embellishment, every tension arc, and every change in sound perspective becomes immediately tangible. The door opens approximately one hour before the concert starts.
Conclusion
Soul Theater promises an intense concert evening between Baroque virtuosity, musical drama, and sensitive sound language. Those who wish to experience Bach, Locatelli, and Vivaldi live in a carefully curated orchestral dramaturgy will find an extraordinary concert experience at the Music Forum Ruhr on November 14, 2026. Tickets are available from 18 euros.
