A festive orchestral evening for the tenth anniversary of the Music Forum
The Anneliese Brost Music Forum Ruhr celebrates its tenth anniversary with an extraordinary fest concert: On Saturday, November 7, 2026, the Bochum Symphony Orchestra, the Youth Symphony Orchestra of the Bochum Music School, and the Philharmonic Choir Bochum will combine their ensembles for a grand musical anniversary evening in the Grand Hall.
Symphonic colors between Night Song and Firebird
The program spans an impressive arc through orchestral literature. Robert Schumann's Night Song op. 108 opens the evening with dense, romantic sound language. Igor Stravinsky's orchestral suite from The Firebird in the 1919 version then brings bright colors, rhythmic precision, and a suggestive stage atmosphere to the concert hall.
Virtuoso Overture and Schumann's Great Symphony
Otto Nicolai's overture to The Merry Wives of Windsor provides wit, tempo, and orchestral playfulness. The crowning conclusion is Robert Schumann's Symphony No. 4 in D minor op. 120 in its original version – a work full of dramatic transitions, motivic condensation, and romantic energy.
Four conductors, three ensembles, one anniversary
Mateo Peñaloza Cecconi, Steven Sloane, Norbert Koop, and Aurel Dawidiuk will take over the conducting. The evening will be moderated by Katja Leistenschneider. The collaboration of a professional orchestra, young musicians, and the Philharmonic Choir makes the concert a special sign for the musical development of Bochum.
Live atmosphere in the Grand Hall
The Grand Hall of the Music Forum provides the perfect setting for this fest concert: powerful tutti passages, colorful orchestration, and choral fullness of sound meet the concentrated audience atmosphere of a special anniversary evening. The musical dramaturgy leads from Schumann's lyrical introspection through Stravinsky's fairy-tale sound world to the grand symphonic gesture.
Conclusion: A concert as a musical declaration of love for Bochum's Music Forum
The fest concert honors ten years of musical life at the Anneliese Brost Music Forum Ruhr and brings together outstanding ensembles from the city. The concert is sold out. Those who obtain a remaining ticket will experience a festive evening with romantic symphonic works, modern orchestral colors, and great collaborative stage performance.
