Music in Candlelight: Ludovico Einaudi and Hans Zimmer live in Bochum
More than 3,000 warmly glowing LED candles transform St. Franziskus Church in Bochum-Weitmar on Thursday, October 29, 2026, into an atmospheric concert hall. During the one-hour candlelight concert, pianist Melanie Peoska presents emotional works by Ludovico Einaudi, film music by Hans Zimmer, as well as other film and crossover compositions.
Between Neoclassicism and Great Film Music
The program connects the meditative clarity of modern piano music with the dramatic sound language of cinema. Included are Einaudi's Experience, Nuvole Bianche, and Una Mattina, as well as music from Interstellar, La La Land, and The Fabulous World of Amélie. Calm melodic arcs meet expressive crescendos, allowing familiar themes to resonate anew in a personal piano interpretation.
A Church Becomes a Sound World
The architecture of St. Franziskus Church gives the compositions space and reverberation. In the warm light of the LED candles, a special live atmosphere is created where acoustics, light, and stage performance play closely together. The concert experience is aimed at all who wish to experience modern piano music, soundtracks, and stylish crossover arrangements in a focused environment.
Melanie Peoska at the Piano
Melanie Peoska leads through a repertoire that combines neoclassical soundscapes, romantic melodies, and cinematic orchestration in a solo piano evening. The synchronization of dynamics, touch, and resonance brings the emotional dramaturgy of the pieces directly into the church space. Thus, a mood among the audience is created, balancing silent contemplation with great musical tension.
