Animaliciously Sustainable: Autumn Festival with Nature, Animal Welfare, and Creative Ideas
When autumn colors come together with curious children's eyes, exciting encounters, and sustainable ideas at the Zoo + Fossilium Bochum, a Sunday becomes a special family experience. On October 4, 2026, the Animaliciously Sustainable Autumn Festival invites you to actively discover nature, the environment, nutrition, and animal welfare from 11 AM to 4 PM.
Sustainability Becomes Tangible at the Zoo
As a BNE regional center, the Bochum Zoo combines education for sustainable development with practical experiences. Visitors gain illustrative insights into the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations and discover how sustainable actions can be integrated into everyday life.
Interactive booths, tactile boxes, educational materials, and games make topics like insect protection, sustainable nutrition, fast fashion, and nature and species conservation understandable. Children, teenagers, and adults can become actively involved and experience sustainability through all their senses.
Creative Activities for the Whole Family
On Action Day, new ideas emerge from seemingly everyday items: pots are painted and planted, old T-shirts receive a new purpose through upcycling, and creative notebooks are made from mistakes and magazines. This transforms information into personal action.
The zoo school also invites families to play and have fun. Families experience an open festival atmosphere between the zoo grounds, educational offerings, and autumn nature. The sense of community is created not through large stages but through trying things out together, asking questions, and discovering.
Stage Program with Music, Knowledge, and Movement
The event begins at 11 AM with an ecumenical harvest thanksgiving service by the Protestant parish of Bochum-Mitte with Pastor Diana Klöpper. Following that, a varied stage program brings together different perspectives.
Among other things, a performance by the ensemble Farbmusik, a zoology special, Mr. Stinknich's Clean Magic, and a sports presentation by TVK Wattenscheid are planned. At the meet and greet with the mascots of the VfL Bochum Kids Club and the Bochum Zoo, the youngest guests can meet their favorites in person.
Autumn Festival with Educational Mission and Family Moments
The festival shows how festival organization, environmental education, and family programming can intertwine. Between animal observations, creative stations, and conversations with participating partners, a varied action day is created for all generations.
Particularly apt for World Animal Day, the autumn festival highlights the connection between humans, animals, and habitats. The zoo becomes an extracurricular learning location where knowledge does not remain abstract but becomes lively through concrete actions and shared experiences.
Conclusion: Discover Sustainability Together
Animaliciously Sustainable promises an informative and vibrant autumn day for families, nature lovers, animal friends, and all those who want to experience sustainable development in practice. Those looking to experience the Bochum Zoo from a particularly creative perspective will find interactive actions, stage programs, and experiences with nature all in one place. Mark October 4, 2026, in your calendars and discover sustainability live.
