The Little Witch invites families in Bochum to a magical theater experience

On Sunday, December 13, 2026, the Schauspielhaus Bochum will be transformed into an enchanting world: The family play The Little Witch by Otfried Preußler tells a story of courage, curiosity, and the search for one's own path. Families will experience a fanciful journey on stage filled with children's laughter, suspense, and many moments of wonder.

A brave heroine with her own voice

The Little Witch wants to belong to the great witches and prove that she is a good witch. However, at times she goes too far with her magic for a good cause. Together with her raven Abraxas, she discovers what is right and important. The production by Paulina Neukampf turns this into a child-friendly family piece about independence, responsibility, and the courage to question rules.

Magic, music, and vibrant acting

On stage, a wild ride through a magical world unfolds. Acting, music, costumes, and imaginative figures combine to create a sensory learning experience for children aged six and above. The story stimulates children's imagination and invites them to reflect on friendship, justice, and their own development.

Ages appropriate and planned as a family experience

The Schauspielhaus recommends the play for children aged six and above. The manageable duration of around 70 minutes is well-suited for a joint theater visit with elementary school children. The professional production and theatrical pedagogical involvement support a safe, understandable, and age-appropriate approach to the stage events.
