Magical Family Theater with The Little Witch in Bochum

On Wednesday, December 2, 2026, the Schauspielhaus Bochum opens its doors for an imaginative school performance of The Little Witch. Children from the age of six will experience a magical stage world full of courage, curiosity, children's laughter, and surprising twists.

A brave heroine finds her own way

The little witch is 127 years old and still too young for the big witches to dance on the Blocksberg. Together with her wise raven Abraxas, she learns spells, tests the rules, and discovers step by step what makes a good witch.

The production, based on Otfried Preußler and adapted by John von Düffel, tells child-friendly stories about independence, a sense of responsibility, and the joy of finding one’s own voice. The daring heroine brings lively turmoil with her well-intentioned witchcraft.

Age-appropriate theater with learning fun

The family piece is aimed at children from the age of six and combines imaginative images with a learning experience about friendship, courage, and independent thinking. The story invites young audiences to question rules, make decisions, and understand the consequences of their actions.

For families and school classes, a special family experience is created: shared wonder, focused listening, and stimulating conversations about right actions are just as much a part of a theater visit as the joy of language, acting, and music.

Curtain up at Schauspielhaus Bochum

The performance starts at 9:00 AM and is expected to last until 10:10 AM. On stage, among others, are Jing Xiang as the little witch and Puk Brouwers as the raven Abraxas. Directed by Paulina Neukampf. The theater pedagogical support will be provided by Lena Hilberger and Susanne Scheffler.

The Schauspielhaus at Königsallee 15 offers a protected indoor space for the theater experience. The clear age recommendation from six years helps families and educators in selecting suitable performances and creates an age-appropriate framework for quality time together.

Conclusion: A magical learning experience for children

The Little Witch combines excitement, humor, and pedagogically valuable impulses into a warm-hearted theater experience. Children discover a heroine with her own mind, while adults enjoy the lovingly told story about courage, development, and responsibility. Anyone who wants to experience theater with bright eyes and genuine curiosity should not miss this morning at Schauspielhaus Bochum.
