Magical theater magic for young and old witch fans

On December 8, 2026, the Schauspielhaus Bochum invites children from six years old to a fanciful family play: The Little Witch based on Otfried Preußler. The school performance combines children's laughter, exciting stage moments, and a child-friendly learning experience around courage, friendship, and the question of what makes a good witch.

A curious witch on a great mission

The little witch is only 127 years old and is therefore still too young for the big witches to dance on the Blocksberg. Nevertheless, she follows her wish and flies to the Walpurgis Night. When she is discovered, she loses her broom and receives a difficult task: Within a year, she must learn all the spells and prove that she is a good witch.

Enchanting stage, strong themes

Together with her clever raven Abraxas, the little witch experiences turbulent adventures. Her magic creates a stir, but it is precisely from her mistakes that she develops self-confidence and a sense of responsibility. The play tells age-appropriately about independence, creativity, and the joy of finding one's own voice.

Family experience with educational value

The production by Paulina Neukampf offers children a fanciful approach to important questions of coexistence: Which rules are fair? When is courage required? And how can one do good without losing oneself? The theater experience strengthens imagination, empathy, and joint reflection. Educational guidance and a clear age recommendation from six years support a safe and child-friendly visit.

A morning full of wonder

The performance begins at 9:00 AM and lasts about 70 minutes. On stage are, among others, Jing Xiang as the little witch and Puk Brouwers as the raven Abraxas. Music, costumes, and imaginative characters create a lively atmosphere in which children follow the story with curiosity and excitement.

The Schauspielhaus Bochum looks forward to welcoming its young guests at the large theater on Königsallee. The Schauspielhaus stop is nearby; several bus and subway lines connect the venue with Bochum main station.

Conclusion: Dive into a magical world together

The Little Witch offers children a special family experience with children's laughter, learning fun, and strong thoughts about courage and justice. Those who want to experience theater as a sparkling magical world will discover a heartwarming story for shared time in Bochum.
