The Little Witch: Magical Theater Fun for Families in Bochum

On Tuesday, December 15, 2026, the door to a magical world will open at Schauspielhaus Bochum. The family play The Little Witch based on the children's book classic by Otfried Preußler takes children from six years old and their families on an imaginative journey full of courage, curiosity, and children's laughter.

A Little Witch with Great Courage

The little witch is only 127 years old and therefore still too young for the older witches. Nevertheless, she absolutely wants to dance at the Walpurgis Night on the Blocksberg. Together with her clever raven Abraxas, she faces a difficult task: she must prove that she is a good witch.

Magical Stage World Full of Imagination

On the big stage, magical images, mysterious encounters, and plenty of commotion arise. The little witch wants to do good but sometimes misses the mark with her magic. It is this mix of humor, excitement, and imaginative ideas that makes the theater experience particularly lively for children.

Age-Appropriate Family Experience

The play is recommended for children aged six and is suitable for elementary school children as well as families who wish to experience culture together. The story encourages children to think about rules, fairness, independence, and finding their own voice in an age-appropriate manner. Children discover that making a good decision is not always easy and that courage often consists of thinking for oneself about what seems right.

Theater with Educational Value

The production by Paulina Neukampf combines acting, music, imaginative set design, and costumes into a varied learning experience. Involvement from dramaturgy and theater education supports the age-appropriate access. Thus, visiting the theater combines shared wonder with fun learning, emotional development, and valuable time together.
