The Little Witch: Magical Theater Experience for Children Aged 6 and Up
On December 22, 2026, the door to a magical world opens at the Schauspielhaus Bochum: The Little Witch invites families and school classes to an imaginative theater experience based on Otfried Preußler's story. The performance combines children's laughter, excitement, and shared time with a story about courage, curiosity, and finding one's own path.
A Brave Heroine on the Broom
The Little Witch wishes for nothing more than to celebrate Walpurgis Night with the great witches. To do so, she must prove that she is a good witch. Along the way, she encounters special characters and learns that rules do not have to be simply accepted but can also be questioned.
Child-Friendly Learning Experience Full of Imagination
The production by Paulina Neukampf is aimed at children aged 6 and up and tells the story as a family piece during the Christmas season. Themes such as independence, courage, responsibility, and the joy of finding one's own voice make the play a suitable learning experience for the age group. Children experience how a character takes on challenges, makes decisions, and stands up for her beliefs.
Theater Full of Wonder and Community
Through acting, music, imaginative costumes, and a magical stage world, a family experience is created that stimulates the imagination. The performance lasts approximately 70 minutes and offers a clear, child-friendly arc of tension. For many families, attending the theater becomes a special shared time during the pre-Christmas period.
Important Information for Families
The performance begins on Tuesday, December 22, 2026, at 09:00 AM and is expected to end around 10:10 AM. It is designated as a school performance and is recommended for children aged 6 and up. According to the Schauspielhaus Bochum, ticket prices for morning performances are 9 euros regular and 5 euros reduced. The event takes place in the interior of the Schauspielhaus at Königsallee 15 in Bochum.

The Little Witch offers children an imaginative family experience filled with excitement, music, and important impulses for personal development.
