The Little Witch enchants families at the Schauspielhaus Bochum
On Christmas Day, a magical world opens at the Schauspielhaus Bochum: The family play The Little Witch invites children from six years and their families to an imaginative theater experience. On Friday, December 25, 2026, the performance begins at 4:00 PM and lasts about 70 minutes.
A brave heroine with her own mind
The Little Witch is 127 years old and still too young for the big witches to dance on the Blocksberg. Together with her wise raven Abraxas, she learns spells, tests rules, and searches for her own path. Daring ideas, surprising twists, and plenty of commotion create laughter and wonder among children.
Child-friendly theater with important themes
The production based on Otfried Preußler and adapted by John von Düffel tells a story of courage, independence, and the joy of finding one’s own voice. Children experience age-appropriate learning: The story encourages reflection on fairness, responsibility, and what makes a good witch.
Magical Christmas time on stage
Paulina Neukampf stages the children's book classic as a family piece for Christmas time. Music, acting, and a fantastical stage world come together to create a heartwarming family experience. Following the performance, a signing session and waffles are announced – a delightful conclusion for quality time at the theater.
Experience, safety, and educational value
The Schauspielhaus Bochum marks the performance with an age recommendation from six years. The approximately 70-minute duration suits many elementary school-aged children and offers space for concentration, imagination, and exchange. The theater education involvement of Lena Hilberger and Susanne Scheffler emphasizes the family-oriented approach of the production.
Conclusion: An enchanting theater afternoon
Families can expect a fantastical theater adventure full of curiosity, bravery, and a sense of community. Anyone wishing to inspire children with stories, acting, and creative learning experiences will find The Little Witch a special Christmas day at the Schauspielhaus Bochum.
