Questioning Prison Imagery: Reading and Discussion at Gleis 9

How do ideas about prisons originate, and how much truth is there in common prison clichés? The event "Don't Bend Over! Prison Clichés in Fact-Check" critically engages with these questions. On November 14, 2026, visitors to Gleis 9 in Bochum can expect a combination of reading and discussion.

Reading and Discussion about Prisons

The focus is on images, narratives, and prejudices surrounding life in prison. The event invites participants to question common assumptions and take a closer look. It is not only about clichés but also about how such images arise, are passed on, and shape public perception.

The format combines literary or recited passages with a discussion. This creates space for contextualization, reflection, and a differentiated view of a topic that is often characterized by simplifications. The critical engagement can make different perspectives visible and encourage the review of one's own assumptions.
