Capture the Starry Sky with Your Own Camera

How do impressive images of the starry sky, sun, moon, and planets come about? The compact seminar Astrophotography with a Digital Single-Lens Reflex Camera (DSLR) at the Volkshochschule Bochum shows how photographic techniques and astronomical subjects can be combined.

Manual Settings for a View into Space

In astrophotography, automatic camera programs quickly reach their limits. In the course, participants will learn to work in manual mode M and specifically apply exposure time, sensitivity, and lens choice. With standard photo lenses, amazing results can already be achieved, while for planets, long focal lengths or a telescope as a lens are required.

Practical Event Experience

The course takes place in the seminar room of vhs at BVZ. If the weather allows, a practical unit outdoors complements the organization and event planning of the evening. This creates a varied event experience between understandable technical instruction, astronomical subjects, and the special atmosphere of nocturnal sky observation.

Bring the Right Equipment

For the practical work, participants need a DSLR camera with or without a mirror, suitable lenses, charged batteries, memory cards, and a tripod. The course is aimed at anyone who wants to photograph the starry sky and use their camera more confidently in challenging lighting situations.

Conclusion: Photographing When the Stars Become Visible

The Volkshochschule Bochum combines professional guidance with practical photography, thus creating a focused learning atmosphere for curious hobby photographers. Those who want not only to observe the night sky but also to capture it impressively with their own camera will experience an inspiring evening around astrophotography, DSLR technology, and astronomical image subjects.
