When Gerthe heads out together in the glow of lights
On Sunday, November 8, 2026, Gerthe in Bochum transforms into a glowing running backdrop. The free lantern run Sparkling in the Dark combines communal singing, lanterns, and neighborhood community along a mood-setting route through the district.
Bright Start at the Market Square
The meeting point is at the booth in the market square Gerthe. The program starts at 4:00 PM with communal singing. Voices from the audience, colorful lanterns, and the autumn evening atmosphere give the start a special mood.
Lantern Run to the Sports Field
Afterward, the lantern run gets underway. Families, children, and adults walk together through Gerthe to the sports field Am Ehrenmal. The path becomes a glowing community action, where the focus is not on speed but on the shared experience.
Wind Down with Grilled Food and Drinks
At the finish line, the Spielvereinigung Gerthe 1911 e.V. takes care of the hospitality. Visitors can expect a cozy end with delicious grilled food as well as hot and cold drinks. Pretzels can be pre-ordered at the booth in the market square and during opening hours at the SpVgg Gerthe 1911 until November 1.
An Evening for the Whole Family
Sparkling in the Dark connects movement, fan chants in the broadest sense, and neighborhood into a special leisure experience in northern Bochum. The lanterns provide visible orientation, while the communal singing and the finish at the sports field emotionally bring the event together.
Conclusion
Anyone who wants to experience Gerthe in a very special stadium atmosphere without a playing field will find a pleasant evening for the whole family at this lantern run. Pack a lantern, come to the market square, and together bring the district to light.
