When the lights go out in the Varieté et cetera, a winter show begins amidst dizzying heights, racing speed, and surprising comedy. “CAUGHT COLD!” combines international artistry, music, comedy, and elegant stage art into a versatile stage experience in Bochum.

Acrobatics that Defy Gravity

The production by Sammy Tavalis relies on a varied tension arc: aerial acrobatics on straps, contortion, hand-to-hand acrobatics, and fast-paced roller skating alternate with one another. The duo Deibit y Nymeria provides moments of utmost concentration with powerful ascents, twists, and a spectacular tooth hang. The trio Beautiful blurs the boundaries between strength, trust, and elegance with precise partner acrobatics.

Juggling, Antipodism, and Artistic Precision

Walid Merhi makes balls and frisbees fly in a modern juggling act between classical sounds and driving beats. Kimberly Lester showcases her award-winning antipodism performance, holding up to six balls in the air with her feet while lying on her back. Her roller skate number with Pierre Poissonnet combines speed, balance, and intergenerational variety tradition.

Comedy and Music as Dramatic Counterpoints

The evening is hosted by Pierre Poissonnet with moderation and live singing. The artist comes from a long-standing circus family and embodies along with Kimberly Lester the third generation of the Skating Willers. For anarchic energy, there’s Davide “Skizzo” Nicolosi: His stage character combines magic, music, dance, comedy, and anti-juggling into a quirky comedic play with audience expectations.

Lighting, Costume, and Atmosphere

The stage design by Ronny Cabello and Patrick Siekmann, the lighting design by Ronny Cabello, and the costumes by Lara Cabello create the visual framework for the artistic highlights. Between sparkling moments, musical acoustics, and surprising twists, a theater atmosphere is created that immediately connects wonder and laughter.
