Christmas Forest: A modern Christmas fairy tale full of warmth and adventure

When the stage transforms into a mysterious winter forest, a special theatrical experience for children and families begins at the Traumbaum Theater. On Monday, December 14, 2026, the Traumbaum Theater recounts the dynamic Christmas story Christmas Forest, the modern Christmas fairy tale at the KulturMagazin in Bochum.

A mysterious path through the winter forest

For Eberhard and Mops, it is clear: Christmas means gifts. However, as they still do not have a present for their parents, they set off to find a Christmas tree in the forest. What seems like a simple endeavor turns into an exciting adventure. The two get lost, Christmas Eve grows darker, and the moon glimmers through the clouds.

The production combines tension, humor, and a child-friendly dramaturgy. Coldness, darkness, and the confusion of the forest create a theatrical counter-world to the familiar Christmas magic. It is in this strangeness that Eberhard and Mops discover what Christmas can mean beyond wrapping paper and expectations.

A Christmas story with a contemporary perspective

Christmas Forest guides its young audience step by step towards a modern Christmas message. The further the characters get lost, the closer they get to the question of what makes Christmas. The performance culminates in a contemporary nativity play that speaks to people of all cultures and beliefs.

In this way, the Traumbaum Theater connects classical motifs of the Christmas story with contemporary stage art. The direction focuses on movement, clear character guidance, and an immediately understandable playing style. For children aged four and older, a lively access to theater, storytelling tradition, and communal experiences is created.

Theater experience for children, families, and school classes

The performance lasts 50 minutes and is complemented by a 15-minute follow-up. This combination of performance and discussion creates space for questions, impressions, and personal imagination. The audience experiences theater not just as a finished story, but as a shared space for thinking and feeling.

The theatrical atmosphere thrives on the interplay between adventure, winter tension, and Christmas warmth. In the acting of the characters, childlike curiosity, insecurity, and courage are reflected. Thus, a family program is created that combines entertainment with cultural education and is also suitable for kindergarten groups, school classes, and groups.

Conclusion: Christmas begins where closeness is created

Christmas Forest promises a poetic and simultaneously dynamic stage experience for young viewers aged four and older. Between forest adventure, contemporary Christmas story, and loving theater atmosphere, a space for wonder, laughter, and shared contemplation opens up. Those who want to start the Christmas season with a special theater visit will experience in the Traumbaum Theater a story about losing one's way, solidarity, and the quiet power of togetherness.
