When the Christmas Forest transforms into a stage full of wonders
At the Traumbaum Theater in the KulturMagazin Bochum, a winter journey for children and families begins on December 15, 2026: Christmas Forest, the modern Christmas fairy tale takes Eberhard and Mops into a snowy forest on Christmas Eve. What begins as a search for a gift for their parents develops into an emotional puppet theater about the significance of Christmas.
A dynamic fairy tale between darkness and hope
Eberhard and Mops set off to find a Christmas tree as a gift. But in the forest, they lose their way. Dusk falls, the moon glimmers through the clouds, and the cold sets in. From this comical adventure emerges an atmospheric stage journey, where childish imagination, excitement, and quiet contemplation intertwine.
Puppet theater with contemporary dramaturgy
The Traumbaum Theater combines an easily accessible story with a modern interpretation of the Christmas celebration in its production. The dramaturgy leads from the familiar motif of getting lost to an encounter with the Christmas story, asking what Christmas means beyond gifts and festive traditions.
The acting and puppetry rely on clear images, movement, and immediate audience proximity. This creates a theater atmosphere that appeals to young spectators as well as accompanying adults. The winter scenery of the set opens a space for excitement, warmth, and shared wonder.
A stage experience for children aged four and up
Christmas Forest is aimed at children aged four and up as well as families and groups from kindergartens and elementary schools. The performance lasts about 50 minutes; a short debriefing of about 15 minutes deepens the experience and allows space for questions, discussions, and personal thoughts about Christmas.
Audience closeness and cultural openness
The modern Christmas fairy tale understands Christmas as a story that reaches people from different cultures and beliefs. The production combines entertaining children's and youth theater with a humane message: Especially where characters lose their way, they can find closeness, compassion, and orientation.
Conclusion: Dive into the Christmas Forest together
The audience can expect a lively puppet theater with a winter visual language, humorous moments, and a touching journey to the heart of the Christmas celebration. Those wishing to experience Bochum from a fairy-tale perspective during the Advent season will find a warm-hearted stage experience for the whole family at the Traumbaum Theater.
