A piece of home for me! The bright and cheerful ringing steel bells cast in 1956 in the V7 rib by the Bochum association (currently unfortunately only in faulty operation) accompanied me throughout my childhood and youth! We lived not far from the church on the Probst-Hellmich-Promenade and I could hear their ringing very closely and intensely from our garden behind the house! It's a shame that services are only rarely held in this church these days (probably because of the sharp decline in attendance)! For me, this church and the Probsteikirche on the old market square are part of the skyline of Wattenscheid's town centre.

I like this church. Unfortunately, it's closed far too often. I'm used to being able to just drop in during the day, even just for a quick prayer. I think it's because a fair trade shop has been set up in the vestibule, and they're worried about theft. That's regrettable. Perhaps there's a better long-term solution. The church council should maybe consider it. I've heard the congregation wants to beautify the churchyard. A good idea in principle, but what if it looks inviting and then you find yourself standing in front of a locked door?
