Gertrudiscenter Bochum | Opening Hours & Directory

The Gertrudiscenter in Bochum-Wattenscheid is a compactly organized shopping center at Alten Markt 1, which stands out in everyday life mainly due to its short distances, a strong mix of retail, services, and health, as well as its central location. The official website describes the center as a place for shopping, with gastronomy, services, and parking, while an industry report classifies it as an inner-city hybrid center with around 19,300 square meters of rental space, of which 13,300 square meters are retail space including gastronomy, and its own parking garage. For visitors, this means: If you want to combine several errands in Wattenscheid, you will find many offers in one place and do not have to jump between different addresses. Particularly practical is the clear division over several levels, which makes the center easy to navigate despite its wide range of offerings. ([gertrudis-center.de](https://gertrudis-center.de/?utm_source=openai))

Opening Hours and Visiting Times at Gertrudiscenter

For a center like the Gertrudiscenter, the opening hours are a central search topic because the core times do not automatically apply to every store. The official site lists the standard hours as Monday to Saturday from 09:00 to 20:00. In addition, the center publishes differing times for individual tenants that one should know before a visit: Kaufland opens at 07:00 and closes at 22:00, Rossmann is also open until 22:00, the Gertrudis Pharmacy has longer opening hours on weekdays and adjusted times on Saturday, Asia & Co. opens Monday to Saturday from 10:00 to 21:00, and Elin Textile Cleaning operates with a different daily structure than the center core. This mix shows that the Gertrudiscenter is not just a classic shopping destination, but a functional everyday place that meets different needs early in the morning, during the day, and in the evening. Therefore, if you want to shop specifically or use a service, you should always check the respective shop times and not just read the center times. Especially in a center with a strong mix of grocery trade, pharmacy, cleaning, and health services, this is relevant because individual services may start earlier or end later than others. ([gertrudis-center.de](https://gertrudis-center.de/oeffnungszeiten/?utm_source=openai))

The core opening hours are also interesting because they describe the character of the house: The Gertrudiscenter is not a pure leisure center, but a location for everyday needs. If you want to quickly pick something up at the pharmacy, shop at the supermarket, or attend an appointment in the health sector in the morning, you will find an operation here that is oriented to the rhythms of the district. It is also fitting that the official website points out special opening hours of individual stores at several points, signaling that the center consists of many independent units. In practice, this means: A visit is particularly worthwhile if you plan a small route, such as first parking, then shopping, followed by a bakery, cleaning, or health service. Especially because the stores are distributed over several floors, it makes sense to get a brief overview in advance. This saves trips, makes the visit more relaxed, and helps during peak times. If you only have a quick appointment, it is also worthwhile to check the early openings of certain stores. If you have more time, the offerings of the center can be very well combined into a compact tour. ([gertrudis-center.de](https://gertrudis-center.de/oeffnungszeiten/?utm_source=openai))

Stores, Directory, and Shops in Gertrudiscenter

The directory of the Gertrudiscenter shows why the center is perceived as versatile in Wattenscheid. The official site mentions over 20 stores in a pleasant shopping atmosphere, and the center plan clearly categorizes the tenants by areas such as groceries and department store, fashion and sportswear, jewelry and accessories, shoes and leather goods, services, health, beauty, gastronomy, as well as leisure and culture. Among the named providers are Kaufland, Landmetzgerei Jedowski, Horsthemke Bakery, Ernsting’s family, Woolworth, KiK, Takko, Deichmann, Jeweler Daniel, Rossmann, Gertrudis Pharmacy, fish for hair, Mia Nails, Lucky Nails, O2, Sparbar, Istanbul Döner, Asia & Co., BASEBURGER, Shoe and Key Service Stark, Jüli’s Textile Cleaning and Alteration Service, and the city of Bochum with library and city archive. This range is typical for a neighborhood center, but particularly densely organized in the Gertrudiscenter. If you are looking for everyday needs, fashion, mobile communications, beauty, small repairs, food to go, or a health service, you will find everything in one house. ([gertrudis-center.de](https://gertrudis-center.de/ueber-uns/?utm_source=openai))

Especially the layout in the center plan makes it clear how functional the directory is. On the ground floor, there are mainly popular offers such as Kaufland, bakery, fashion, drugstore, and parts of gastronomy. In the upper levels, further services, medical facilities, cultural offerings, and specialized providers are concentrated. This is pleasant for visitors because the center does not feel like an overwhelming mall, but like an orderly supply network. For search queries related to gertrudiscenter directory or gertrudiscenter stores, it is important: The offering is not only broad but also close to the reality of life in the district. There are not only shopping brands but also supply points such as pharmacy, medical supply store, doctor's offices, physiotherapy, nursing service, and a public library. This mix of trade and public use gives the house a special everyday value. For example, if you come for a weekend shopping, you can go to the pharmacy, key service, hairdresser, or library in parallel. And if you prefer to plan in peace, you will find a good orientation in the layout plan of where exactly each provider is located. This turns a simple directory into a practical guide through the center. ([gertrudis-center.de](https://gertrudis-center.de/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/centerplan_gertrudiscenter-23.pdf))

Directions and Parking at Gertrudiscenter in Wattenscheid

The directions to the Gertrudiscenter are very clearly described. The official website lists the address as Alter Markt 1, 44866 Bochum, and refers to several public transport connections: Bus line 346 to the stop Freiheitsstraße, line 386 to Römereigasse, lines 365 and 389 to Gertrudisplatz, and tram line 302 to Freiheitsstraße. Additionally, the bus station Freiheitsstraße with lines 346, 363, 365, 386, and 389 is mentioned as being in close proximity to the center. This makes the house easily accessible from Wattenscheid itself as well as from other districts. If you come by car, motorcycle, or bicycle, you can enter the address directly into your navigation device. This combination of public transport and individual traffic is particularly important for a neighborhood center because visitors choose very different routes. The official directions page also adds a practical note about paying for parking fees: In addition to cash, payment via QR code and license plate entry is also possible. This shows that the center wants to make the parking visit as uncomplicated as possible. ([gertrudis-center.de](https://gertrudis-center.de/anfahrt/))

The topic of parking is also one of the central search terms related to the Gertrudiscenter. The website features a dedicated section for free parking, and a previous industry report mentioned the property with a total of 634 parking spaces in the Gertrudis Center. In conjunction with its own parking garage, this results in a location that is very well suited for a quick shopping trip or several errands in succession. For visitors, it is particularly practical that parking can be directly linked to shopping and does not have to be searched for far away. Especially in a center with a supermarket, pharmacy, doctors, cleaning, and gastronomy, smooth access to parking often counts more than a large event staging. Additionally, the central location directly at Alten Markt in Wattenscheid makes the house a well-visible anchor from an urban planning perspective. Therefore, when planning the trip, one should combine two things: first select the appropriate public transport or car route, then prepare the entry into the center with the layout plan. This makes the visit not only faster but also significantly more relaxed. ([gertrudis-center.de](https://gertrudis-center.de/services/kostenlose-parkplaetze/?utm_source=openai))

Layout Plan and Services: Orientation in the Center

The official layout plan is particularly valuable for the Gertrudiscenter because the house is organized over several levels. The PDF lists UG, EG, 1. OG, and 2. OG, and the stores and services are clearly categorized there. Additionally, the plan shows important orientation points such as elevator, escalators, stairwell, customer restroom in UG and 2. OG, ATM on the ground floor, and parcel station in the basement. For visitors, this is a great help because you can not only see which stores are available but also how they are distributed throughout the house. Especially in a center that combines groceries, fashion, health, services, and culture, a clear layout plan prevents unnecessary walking distances. The official site also emphasizes that you can view the location of stores and services in advance via the layout plan. This is practical for everyone who comes with children, with little time, or with a specific goal. Clear orientation improves shopping just as much as a doctor's appointment or a library visit. ([gertrudis-center.de](https://gertrudis-center.de/lageplan/?utm_source=openai))

The services at the Gertrudiscenter also include infrastructural details that are easily overlooked in everyday life but are crucial for comfort. The website and the center plan feature service facilities, a contact area, and the possibility to rent spaces, which also shows the house as a professionally managed commercial property. It fits that the official homepage highlights shopping, parking, and directions as central usage axes of the center. Practically relevant is also the house rules: Smoking is prohibited throughout the property and in the parking garage or on the parking lot, alcohol outside of gastronomy is also prohibited, bicycles and similar vehicles may not be pushed or carried through the shopping street, and dogs must be kept on a leash. These rules are not trivial but part of the usage concept of a house where many different visitor groups meet. Knowing this, one can plan the stay much more relaxed. The Gertrudiscenter is thus not only a place to buy but also a clear everyday space with defined processes, a well-readable layout plan, and rules that make the joint visit safer and more pleasant for everyone. ([gertrudis-center.de](https://gertrudis-center.de/geschaefte/))

Doctors, Health, and Pharmacies in Gertrudiscenter

A standout feature of the Gertrudiscenter is its health focus. The official site explicitly formulates it as provision under one roof, and the center plan confirms this structure with a whole range of medical and health-related offerings. These include among others Doctors Laboratory WL, Orthopedics Winkelmann, the Health Center Bochum-Wattenscheid, a medical supply store, Novotergum Physiotherapy, the family doctor's practice Dombrowski, a urology practice, the dental practice Nenad Gosic, Physiotherapy Frank Speier, the specialist practice of Dr. Rachidi and Dr. Bönner, an X-ray GbR, and the Wattenscheid Care Team. This environment is complemented by the Gertrudis Pharmacy. For the district, this is an important advantage because numerous health services are bundled in a well-accessible location. If you have to combine several appointments in one day, you save trips and time here. Especially for older visitors, families, and people with recurring doctor visits, this density of medical services is a real added value. ([gertrudis-center.de](https://gertrudis-center.de/aertze-und-gesundheit/?utm_source=openai))

The individual health offerings are also firmly anchored in the center. The Health Center Bochum-Wattenscheid offers health-oriented fitness training, back training, nutritional counseling, rehabilitation sports, wellness, and relaxation. Orthopedics Winkelmann refers to a long company history and more than twenty years of activity in Wattenscheid. The dental practice operates with clear office hours and is directly accessible in the center, as are the family doctor's practice and pediatric surgical care. This mix shows that the Gertrudiscenter not only has a shopping function but also fulfills a supply function for daily life in the district. For SEO and user inquiries, this is important because search queries for gertrudiscenter health center or gertrudiscenter pharmacy express exactly this type of information need: People want to know if they can not only shop here but also take care of medical matters. The answer is clearly yes. In conjunction with the parking garage, public transport, and clear house structure, the center becomes a location where provision does not remain abstract but actually works in everyday life. ([gertrudis-center.de](https://gertrudis-center.de/shops/aerzte-und-gesundheit-2/?utm_source=openai))

Library, City Archive, and the Gertrudiscenter as an Everyday Place in Wattenscheid

In addition to trade and health, culture also plays an important role in the Gertrudiscenter. The center plan lists the city of Bochum with library and city archive in the leisure and culture area, and the own shop page describes the Wattenscheid district library as central and located on the first floor of the shopping center at Alten Markt. There is a versatile media offering for children, teenagers, and adults, as well as an event program with tours, lectures, readings, and workshops. The library also collaborates with kindergartens, schools, seniors, and migrants, making it much more than just a lending place for books. For the center, this is a strong unique selling point because everyday consumption and public education take place side by side here. Therefore, those who visit the Gertrudiscenter experience not only classic retail use but also a municipal cultural component right in the district. This connection makes the house so relevant for Wattenscheid. ([gertrudis-center.de](https://gertrudis-center.de/shops/buecherei-wattenscheid-zweigstelle/?utm_source=openai))

The role of the Gertrudiscenter in the district is also made clear by external classifications. A retail real estate report described the property as the largest and most significant retail agglomeration in Wattenscheid for short- and medium-term needs, and the Bochum Master Plan for Retail locates the Gertrudis Center at the western end of the district center of Wattenscheid. Additionally, the official website refers to regular events and seasonal decorations. Together, this creates the image of a house that consists not only of shops but also structures the everyday life of the district: pharmacy or supermarket in the morning, doctor appointments during the day, library or service in the afternoon, gastronomy in between, and short distances to the parking garage. Therefore, when searching for gertrudiscenter wattenscheid, you are not just looking for a building but a multifunctional meeting point with supply, shopping, and cultural functions. This is exactly what makes the location in Bochum so special. It is not a glamorous event temple but a robust, useful, and well-connected everyday place that brings many small paths together into a single, practical visit. I recently visited your shopping center to buy a phone and use the restroom, with my small, hand-carry dog. As I walked past Kaufland, an employee aggressively shouted that dogs aren’t allowed, even though I wasn’t entering the store, just passing through the corridor. She continued to harass me both ways, claiming the entire corridor was part of their store. Her behavior was so aggressive that I’ve decided to buy my phone elsewhere, as I’m afraid she might bite me next time and I’d need rabies shots. I hope management will consider providing muzzles for such employees to prevent similar issues in the future.

Small shopping center with a couple of clothing stores, take out food places, a newsagent and a really great supermarket. Best supermarket around here, with anything that your looking for. Also next to the entrance is a great burger restaurant called Base Burger. Highly recommended to stop in for an excellent burger.

I walk through here if I need to get to the prize... Kaufland. It is an ok center with some shops. It is not like the tunnel of love. It has a Deichmann shoe shop, which might be the only shoe shop in Wattenscheid! This centre is way better than the Walnut centre in Orpington. (American spelling 'center' and the correct English spelling 'centre')

😀 It was all good, except for a misunderstanding once in Kaufland due to lack of verbal communication.
