Municipal Day Care Center for Children | Family Center NRW
The Municipal Day Care Center for Children at Lothringer Straße 21 in Gelsenkirchen-Rotthausen is much more than a classic daycare. Those searching for photos, reviews, or the term Family Center will discover here a municipal facility with a clear profile, established structures, and a daily routine focused on movement, exploration, nature, and parental involvement. The facility is located on a traffic-calmed street in the middle of a residential area and has been a fixed part of the neighborhood since 1976. Today, it presents itself as a certified Family Center NRW, a movement kindergarten, and a house where children explore. The current GeKita profile lists 3 groups, 50 child places, care starting from 2 years, and opening hours from 07:00 to 17:00. For families, this means: a manageable, structured environment with an educational concept that not only manages daily life but actively shapes it.([gelsenkirchen.de](https://www.gelsenkirchen.de/de/_meta/aktuelles/artikel/35163-rotthausen-hat-ein-neues-familienzentrum))
Family Center NRW and Support for Families
The most important search term related to this facility is the Family Center, and this is where Lothringer Straße particularly focuses its content. On the current Family Center page, GeKita describes the facility as a certified Family Center NRW that supports parents and families from the neighborhood with various offerings. These include parent meetings, information and day events, courses on various topics, information on contacts in the neighborhood, and support with special care questions. This profile is complemented by counseling on parenting issues, questions about child day care, and assistance with care needs during special times or emergencies. This is crucial for many families because a Family Center not only cares for children but also considers the family living situation.([gekita.de](https://gekita.de/tageseinrichtungen/standorte/lothringer-strasse/familienzentrum))
It is also exciting how concretely the facility describes its family work. On the GeKita page for care, it states that parents can meet once a month in the self-organized parent café and that parent council meetings and celebrations take place together with parents, siblings, grandparents, neighbors, and friends. Such offerings make the difference between mere care and genuine community work. The daycare thus becomes a place of exchange, where not only children learn but also adults come into contact with each other. The fact that the facility has been awarded the Family Center NRW quality seal since 2018 further emphasizes this claim. Therefore, those searching for a Family Center in Gelsenkirchen or a daycare with family counseling will find at Lothringer Straße a facility clearly oriented towards support, participation, and networking.([gekita.de](https://gekita.de/tageseinrichtungen/standorte/lothringer-strasse/familienzentrum))
The historical perspective also shows that the house has developed further. The facility was opened in 1976, and later it was expanded in several steps to a place with an extended family profile. In municipal documents, Lothringer Straße also appears as a location where an extension with two new U3 group rooms and a Family Center was planned, highlighting the development towards more space for young children and family work. This combination of established facilities and continuous development is typical for an institution that is long-term anchored in the neighborhood and does not react to trends in the short term but consistently expands its mission.([gelsenkirchen.de](https://www.gelsenkirchen.de/de/_meta/aktuelles/artikel/35163-rotthausen-hat-ein-neues-familienzentrum))
Care Options, Groups, and Opening Hours
Those looking for U3 care, groups, places, or opening hours will find clear facts at this daycare. The current GeKita page lists 3 groups, 50 child places, a minimum age of 2 years, and opening hours from 07:00 to 17:00. This is particularly helpful for families who need reliable times in daily life and are looking for a facility that offers both structured processes and flexibility. Additionally, the page mentions U3 care, integrative care, and preschool education as fixed components of the offerings. Thus, the daycare not only covers the care of small children but also accompanies development until the transition to school.([gekita.de](https://gekita.de/tageseinrichtungen/standorte/lothringer-strasse/betreuungsmoeglichkeiten))
The daily routine is consciously designed to be family-friendly. Children who stay over lunch receive a warm meal. The GeKita page describes that this lunch is offered between 12:30 PM and 2:00 PM and may incur additional costs. Furthermore, the facility is closed during the first three weeks of the summer holidays and between Christmas and New Year; at the same time, there is holiday care for working parents. Such information is often more important for inquiries about care, registration, and daily life than large advertising promises, as they directly affect family rhythms. Those looking for a daycare with clear times and transparent rules will find here a facility with a comprehensible structure.([gekita.de](https://gekita.de/tageseinrichtungen/standorte/lothringer-strasse/betreuungsmoeglichkeiten))
In the educational logic of the facility, the groups are not understood as mere storage places but as learning and experience spaces. Older, but still relevant GeKita materials describe that the groups use age-mixed structures in which children can learn, play, and experiment in small and larger settings. This is particularly interesting for families because it means that care does not take place in isolation but is connected with learning support, movement, and social interaction. The daycare thus does not simply rely on presence but on development. This makes it particularly relevant in the context of search terms such as care, U3, places, and Family Center.([gekita.de](https://gekita.de/fileadmin/documents/kitapdfs/Lothringer.pdf))
The organizational information is also practical. The facility openly informs about lunch provision, holiday times, and the possibility of using care offerings in special life situations. This fits with a municipal daycare that operates on behalf of the city of Gelsenkirchen and caters to children from four months until school entry. For Lothringer Straße, this means concretely: The facility is integrated into the larger network of Gelsenkirchen child day care and offers not only a place but a supported daily system with an educational concept, parent contact, and reliability.([gelsenkirchen.de](https://www.gelsenkirchen.de/de/rathaus/politik_und_verwaltung/vorstandsbereiche_und_dienststellen/33546-gelsenkirchener-kindertagesbetreuung-gekita))
Directions to Lothringer Straße 21 in Rotthausen
Another frequently searched topic is directions. The contact page of GeKita clearly names the address as Lothringer Str. 21, 45884 Gelsenkirchen, and adds specific information for bus and car travel. The bus line 381 is mentioned for public transport, with the Schemannstraße stop being the official reference point. By car, the directions lead via Steeler Straße towards Essen-Kray and then right into Lothringer Straße. This makes orientation for parents, grandparents, or guests relatively uncomplicated, even though the facility is not an event location with a parking ticket system. For daily arrival, what counts most is: The address is clear, the route is described, and the facility is easily findable in the Rotthausen district.([gekita.de](https://gekita.de/tageseinrichtungen/standorte/lothringer-strasse/kontakt?utm_source=openai))
The location itself also contributes to the character of the daycare. In the official presentation, the site is described as a traffic-calmed street in the middle of a residential area. This is a clear advantage for families with small children, as arriving, dropping off, and picking up take place in a quieter environment than on heavily trafficked main roads. At the same time, the description shows that the daycare is anchored in the social space and does not function as an isolated island. It belongs to the everyday life of the neighborhood, is accessible on foot and by traffic, and can thus also serve as a meeting point for families from the surrounding area. Especially for search queries related to the neighborhood, such as Gelsenkirchen-South, Rotthausen, or Lothringer Straße, this integration into the residential area is an important plus point.([gelsenkirchen.de](https://www.gelsenkirchen.de/de/_meta/aktuelles/artikel/35163-rotthausen-hat-ein-neues-familienzentrum))
It is also noteworthy that the official communication explains the journey but does not place a strong focus on classic visitor parking. This is typical for a municipal daycare in a residential area, where the paths are often short and practical. Those searching for photos, location, or directions thus receive primarily practical information rather than tourist staging. This also fits the target group: Parents want to know how to arrive reliably, how the neighborhood is connected, and whether the facility is accessible without detours. For Lothringer Straße, the answer is clear: yes, and via a comprehensible bus and car route in a quiet environment.([gekita.de](https://gekita.de/tageseinrichtungen/standorte/lothringer-strasse/kontakt?utm_source=openai))
The address Lothringer Straße 21 is not just a point on the map but the center of a whole educational network. Because it is here that Family Center, daycare routine, parental work, nature projects, and transition support come together. The journey is thus not only a logistical question but also the first contact with a facility that is consciously anchored in the neighborhood and whose offerings reach directly into the residential environment. This makes the search for a location particularly relevant for parents because a short distance in daily life often decides the choice of a facility.([gekita.de](https://gekita.de/tageseinrichtungen/standorte/lothringer-strasse/betreuungsmoeglichkeiten))
Movement Kindergarten, Research, and Nature in Daycare Life
The strongest search terms related to this facility revolve around movement, research, and nature. On the profile page, the daycare describes itself as a movement kindergarten with movement-friendly and multifunctional rooms, a child-friendly outdoor area, and movement-promoting materials. Daily life is designed so that children can play outside in accordance with the weather both in the morning and in the afternoon. This is more than an additional offering, as movement is understood here as part of learning. Climbing, balancing, jumping, rolling, building, and relaxing belong not only in the gym but to the entire educational concept.([gekita.de](https://gekita.de/tageseinrichtungen/standorte/lothringer-strasse/profil))
Additionally, there is the research approach. The facility calls itself a house where children explore, connecting everyday experiences with early scientific and mathematical learning processes. Children can experiment, observe, and find their own solutions both in the daycare and outside in nature. The official presentation adds that the professionals are supported through training in the network of the House of Little Researchers. This creates a daily life where curiosity is not only allowed but explicitly encouraged. For families looking for a daycare with a scientific focus or a House of Little Researchers in Gelsenkirchen, this is a strong quality feature.([gekita.de](https://gekita.de/tageseinrichtungen/standorte/lothringer-strasse/profil))
Ecological education also plays a clear role. On the outdoor area and during excursions into nature, children learn to handle natural resources and living beings. The presentation also describes a kindergarten garden where vegetables and fruits are planted, harvested, processed, and eaten. The current city page additionally states that the children have been cultivating a garden with herbs, vegetables, and fruits for many years and have even implemented a project for using rainwater for the vegetable beds. This shows that environmental education is not an abstract topic here but something that children experience with their hands, eyes, and all their senses.([gekita.de](https://gekita.de/fileadmin/documents/kitapdfs/Lothringer.pdf))
The connection between movement and nature is particularly important for the profile of the facility. Those searching for photos will find insights into the outdoor area, child-friendly play areas, and gardening on the official pages. Even the imagery of the facility makes it clear that not only indoor spaces but also open areas and nature experiences play a significant role. For parents looking for a lively, practical, and at the same time calm educational environment, this mix of activity and security is particularly interesting. Movement kindergarten and research house are not just marketing words here but two lines that genuinely shape daily life.([gekita.de](https://gekita.de/tageseinrichtungen/standorte/lothringer-strasse/profil))
Another detail is the nutrition concept. In the older but content-wise meaningful presentation, the plus point of nutrition is mentioned; it states that attention is paid to a healthy breakfast and that lunch is provided warm, with the meal plans being developed together with the children and according to DGE guidelines. Even though organizational details may change over time, the basic idea remains recognizable: movement, healthy nutrition, and holistic promotion belong together. This connection makes the daycare interesting for parents looking for a facility with a conscious daily concept.([gekita.de](https://gekita.de/fileadmin/documents/kitapdfs/Lothringer.pdf))
Language, Inclusion, and the Transition to Primary School
In addition to movement and nature, language is another important focus. The facility describes itself on its website as a focus daycare for language & integration. This fits well with the Family Center idea, as language is not only an educational topic but also a central access to participation. When children are linguistically accompanied in daily life, they benefit not only in daycare but also during the transition to school and society. The facility relies on individual communication, support in daily life, and spaces where children can express themselves, ask questions, and tell stories.([gekita.de](https://gekita.de/tageseinrichtungen/standorte/lothringer-strasse/wir-ueber-uns?utm_source=openai))
Inclusion is also explicitly part of the concept. The current GeKita page lists integrative care as a fixed component, and the older presentation describes that inclusive work has been done since 1992, accommodating up to five children with increased support needs. This shows a long-term attitude, not just a single project. Inclusive care here means that children with different needs grow up together and learn from each other. This is particularly important for families when searching for a daycare that does not treat diversity as an exception but understands it as normality in educational daily life.([gekita.de](https://gekita.de/tageseinrichtungen/standorte/lothringer-strasse/betreuungsmoeglichkeiten))
The transition to primary school is also very consciously designed. The presentation describes a collaboration with the primary school in the neighborhood that has existed for decades. From this, joint educational projects have emerged, including in the areas of natural sciences, mathematics, and technology. Additionally, targeted small group activities are organized in the last kindergarten year, such as with the language support program German for School Start. Such offerings are often crucial for parents because they show that the daycare does not only care for children until they start school but actively prepares them for this step.([gekita.de](https://gekita.de/fileadmin/documents/kitapdfs/Lothringer.pdf))
Particularly illustrative is the project of reading buddies: children from a higher primary school class read picture books to the older kindergarten children. This creates an early relationship between daycare and school, which can facilitate the transition and give children security. The daycare describes this collaboration as something that has been continuously growing for over 30 years. This is a strong signal for families looking for reliability and networking, as the transition to school usually goes better when children already get to know familiar places, faces, and processes beforehand.([gekita.de](https://gekita.de/fileadmin/documents/kitapdfs/Lothringer.pdf))
The premises also support this concept. The presentation describes a listening room used for small group work, project work, language support, and special support needs. Additionally, there are movement rooms, retreat areas, and multifunctional zones that combine learning, calmness, and activity. This architecture fits a daycare that aims to promote children holistically: not only linguistically but also motorically, socially, and emotionally. Therefore, those looking for a facility with language, inclusion, and good school preparation will find a clearly defined offering at Lothringer Straße.([gekita.de](https://gekita.de/fileadmin/documents/kitapdfs/Lothringer.pdf))
Photos, Impressions, and Reviews for the First Impression
Many search queries related to the facility revolve around photos and reviews. This is understandable, as parents want to not only read data but also get a feel for the atmosphere, spaces, and daily life. The official GeKita pages already provide some of this: pictures of the outdoor area, children on play equipment, gardening projects, and from the educational rooms. This creates an impression of a facility that appears friendly, movement-oriented, and close to everyday life. Therefore, those searching for photos of the daycare will find not only a building but primarily insights into the lived daily life with play, nature, and shared activity.([gekita.de](https://gekita.de/tageseinrichtungen/standorte/lothringer-strasse/betreuungsmoeglichkeiten))
In terms of reviews, the situation is somewhat more sober, but this is also important for an honest assessment. The publicly visible ratings are brief, which means they can only provide a limited opinion picture. In such cases, the official information about the concept, offerings, and location is particularly valuable, as it conveys a more reliable image of the facility than a few individual voices. For parents, this means: a digital first impression can be helpful, but it does not replace the personal conversation with the team, the view of the outdoor area, or the visit to a parent café. For this, Lothringer Straße offers good points of connection with its open family offerings.([gekita.de](https://gekita.de/tageseinrichtungen/standorte/lothringer-strasse/familienzentrum))
For those searching for a daycare in Gelsenkirchen, a Family Center NRW, or a facility with movement, research, and nature, this offers a fairly complete profile. The combination of municipal sponsorship, Family Center, U3 care, integrative work, language support, and environmental education makes the facility relevant for search engines and pedagogically clearly recognizable. Especially because the facility is not oversized but works with 3 groups and 50 places, a more personal impression often arises than in large institutions. This is a real criterion for many parents when comparing photos, impressions, and concrete information before registration.([gekita.de](https://gekita.de/tageseinrichtungen/standorte/lothringer-strasse/betreuungsmoeglichkeiten))
The best way to confirm the first impression is therefore a combination of website, contact, and personal visit. The official contact page provides phone numbers and directions, the Family Center page explains the offerings, and the profile page shows the educational attitude. Together, these pieces of information create a coherent picture: a daycare in Rotthausen that takes families seriously, moves children, makes nature tangible, and prepares transitions well. This is how the search intention behind terms like photos, reviews, and Family Center can be answered most sensibly.([gekita.de](https://gekita.de/tageseinrichtungen/standorte/lothringer-strasse/kontakt?utm_source=openai))

Language, Inclusion, and the Transition to Primary School

Except for two of the childcare workers, everyone was extremely negative. As a mother of five, you're immediately labeled as someone who's doing everything wrong. If a child isn't "behaving well," child protective services are contacted immediately. The unfortunate thing in our case was that none of the accusations against us were true. But we never received an apology. Thank God we're out of there.
