Variety et cetera | Tickets & Events 2026
Variety et cetera is in Bochum much more than just a venue for variety arts. The location combines a fixed theater, a large stage, a light-flooded foyer with a design bar, a sun terrace, and the distinctive converted trams into a place that brings together show, gastronomy, and event culture in a single address. Those looking for a special event location in the Ruhr area will find a house with a clear identity, a family atmosphere, and a long development history that ranges from the touring form of a tent variety to a stylish fixed theater building. The location at Herner Str. 299 is somewhat hidden in the Riemke industrial area, making it all the more surprising when you arrive and recognize the yellow theater. The house is particularly attractive for visitors who want to combine an evening of art, humor, and culinary enjoyment, as the program is not limited to a pure stage show but designed as a complete experience of arrival, dining, wonder, and lingering. Currently, HEARTBEATS is running from March 6 to June 7, 2026, and the mix of music, comedy, and acrobatics showcases very well what the brand stands for: lively entertainment with character that does not feel arbitrary but is consciously staged as a complete experience. ([variete-et-cetera.de](https://www.variete-et-cetera.de/images/ueber-uns/pressedownloads/allgemein/steckbrief.pdf))
The special effect arises not only from the stage but also from the consistent connection of space, service, and atmosphere. The house presents three of its own shows each year and complements the schedule with additional guest performances on the et cetera stage, so the search for upcoming events in 2026 does not end in a rigid calendar view but in a varied, ongoing program. This structure makes Variety et cetera interesting for regular guests as well as for first-time visitors who simply want an evening with palpable live energy. At the same time, the theater is large enough to accommodate groups, companies, and celebration parties, yet compact enough to create closeness to the stage. This is exactly what makes the location relevant for search engines for terms like tickets, program, menu, seating plan, directions, parking, and vouchers: users are not just looking for a show but a reliable, well-planned address for an entire evening. Those who get to know the house quickly realize that culture, enjoyment, and Ruhr area charm are very consciously intertwined here. Tickets, Vouchers, and Upcoming Events 2026
For the search for tickets and upcoming events in 2026, it is especially important that Variety et cetera organizes its program in clear, easily memorable performance times. The regular performances take place on Thursdays and Fridays at 8 PM and on Saturdays at 4 PM and 8 PM. On Sundays, depending on the format, the Brunch & Variety or Satt & Lustig is added, so the schedule works for both classic evening guests and families and Sunday excursionists. The show duration is 90 minutes without an intermission, making the evening pleasantly compact and facilitating planning for arrival, dining, and return. Particularly relevant for 2026 is the current show HEARTBEATS, which will be performed from March 6 to June 7, 2026. Various artists will be on stage with modern acrobatics, music, and comedy, thereby consistently continuing the house's mix of entertainment and stylish gastronomy. So, anyone looking for an event in Bochum will not only get an appointment here but an experience with clear timing and planable duration. ([variete-et-cetera.de](https://www.variete-et-cetera.de/shows/heartbeats))
The ticket purchase is also consciously service-oriented. Seats can be reserved online or by phone, with a service fee of 2.50 euros for online and phone reservations. The box office is open Thursday to Saturday from 4 PM to 8 PM and Sunday from 4 PM to 7 PM, while the office is reachable Monday to Friday from 10 AM to 4 PM. This is practical for visitors who like to be advised in advance or want to specifically choose a certain table, category, or voucher. Gift options are also particularly interesting: vouchers are available for Parkett A and Parkett B, as well as variants for shows including buffet or with a consumption voucher. This makes Variety et cetera suitable not only for one's own evening but also as a gift idea for birthdays, anniversaries, or surprises. The website also describes discounts for students, children, retirees, and people with disabilities, making the location accessible to many target groups. The search for coupon, voucher, or discount thus leads to concrete, usable offers and not just a general advertising promise. ([variete-et-cetera.de](https://www.variete-et-cetera.de/tickets-co))
Directions, Parking, and Barrier-Free Access
The approach to Variety et cetera is uncomplicated once you know the location, as the house is somewhat set back in the Riemke industrial area. By car, the location can be reached via the A40 or A43. The official directions indicate that one should orient themselves at A.T.U. and the access is located behind house number 299. Those arriving by public transport can take the U35 from Bochum Hbf towards Herne/Schloß Strünkede to Zeche Constantin and then follow the signs. The distances on the website make the location even more tangible: the subway station is only about 0.2 kilometers away, the A40 about 0.4 kilometers, the A43 about 0.8 kilometers, Bochum city center 2.0 kilometers, and the main train station 3.8 kilometers. For travelers from the Ruhr area and the surrounding region, this is a real advantage, as the connection of local transport, motorway access, and a short remaining distance makes the approach pleasantly planable. ([variete-et-cetera.de](https://www.variete-et-cetera.de/ueber-uns/kontakt/anfahrt))
When it comes to parking, the location scores with free parking spaces directly in front of and next to the theater. There are also designated disabled parking spaces and an access that is barrier-free in the foyer and in Parkett A. A barrier-free toilet is also located in the foyer and is accessible at ground level. The website also states that one can use the large parking lot and the yellow building as orientation once they have arrived at the correct access. This combination of clear signage, free parking, and barrier-free access makes the house particularly attractive for families, older guests, and visitors with limited mobility. The path from the parking lot to the building is also short and easy to follow, ensuring that arrival remains relaxed even on busy evenings. So, anyone searching for parking, directions, or barrier-free theater in Bochum will find a very practical solution with few but clear steps. ([variete-et-cetera.de](https://www.variete-et-cetera.de/tickets-co))
Seating Plan, Parkett A, and the Best Seats
The seating plan is one of the strongest reasons why guests find Variety et cetera pleasantly clear. Since the major renovation in summer 2011, there is no longer a tent with problematic sightlines, but a fixed theater with a thoughtful layout and unrestricted views from all seats. The seating is divided into two main categories: Parkett A and Parkett B. Parkett A is considered the best category and is either at ground level in the area in front of the stage or elevated on the first two steps. Parkett B is located on the further elevations. A total of up to 302 people can be seated at four, six, or eight-person tables in three different categories, while the theater seating in event use can accommodate up to 260 people. For inquiries about seating plans, best seats, or capacity, this is important information as it precisely describes the framework of the house without diminishing the charm of the theater. ([variete-et-cetera.de](https://www.variete-et-cetera.de/ueber-uns/kontakt/haeufige-fragen-faq?utm_source=openai))
Practically, this means: those who want to sit very close to the stage and experience facial expressions, acrobatics, and interaction intensely should choose Parkett A. Those who prefer a bit more distance but still want very good visibility and a clear overview of the stage and show events are well advised with Parkett B. According to the website, tables 1 to 24 are barrier-free, and from table 31, each row is reached via a step. This table logic is helpful, especially for group bookings or for guests who want to plan the evening consciously, as it allows for better estimation of one's seat position. Additionally, the house has no seats with restricted views, thus providing a solid seating experience even for sold-out performances. The combination of a clear category structure, good visibility, reservable tables, and calm spatial organization makes the house particularly planable for variety visits, celebrations, and corporate events. ([variete-et-cetera.de](https://www.variete-et-cetera.de/tickets-co))
Menu, 3-Course Menu, and Show & Buffet
The gastronomy at Variety et cetera is not just an accompaniment but an essential part of the experience. The official menu and the 3-course menu clearly show that the house focuses on fresh, seasonal, and regional cuisine. The 3-course menu is homemade, prepared fresh in the evening, and served stylishly at the table. Guests choose their desired menu from 2 appetizers, 3 main courses, and 2 desserts, with vegetarian and vegan options also available. The price for adults is 38.50 euros. Additionally, there is the option to eat à la carte, keeping the location open for different preferences. Those coming with friends and not knowing exactly in advance whether a classic menu sequence or a spontaneous order fits better will find a flexible framework here that covers both planable and spontaneous visits. ([variete-et-cetera.de](https://www.variete-et-cetera.de/gastronomie/3-gaenge-menue))
Particularly popular are the combo formats around Show & Buffet. The Brunch & Variety starts on Sundays with entry at 10 AM, brunch from 10 AM to 12 PM, and show start at 12 PM. Satt & Lustig begins on Sundays with entry at 5 PM, buffet from 5 PM to 7 PM, and show at 7 PM. The website also emphasizes that one can dine before or during the show and that orders can also be placed in the evening without prior reservation. This makes the gastronomy interesting not only for foodies but also for families, groups, and visitors who want to experience the evening as a complete package. The offer is therefore very relevant for inquiries about menu, 3-course menu, brunch, buffet, or dining in Bochum. The culinary side of the house ensures that the show visit does not feel like a single program point but like a coherent evening or Sunday format with enjoyment factor. ([variete-et-cetera.de](https://www.variete-et-cetera.de/gastronomie/show-und-buefett))
Reviews, Photos, and the Atmosphere On-Site
The provided guest voices paint a very positive picture overall. Visitors particularly praise the show, the friendly atmosphere in the house, and the good food. At the same time, individual feedback also provides honest input, such as on smaller service points or that some areas do not look completely new anymore. This mix is valuable because it makes the location credible and does not artificially smooth it over. For the search for reviews, this is helpful, as interested parties usually want to know whether the combination of entertainment, service, and food actually works in everyday life. The guests' response is clear: those looking for good entertainment in a stylish setting will generally be positively surprised here. This speaks for a location that remains memorable and encourages people to return or recommend it. ([variete-et-cetera.de](https://www.variete-et-cetera.de/gruppen-events/location))
Visually, Variety et cetera also has a high recognition value, which makes the search for photos particularly logical. The yellow building, the converted trams at the entrance, the bright foyer with glass roof, the design bar, the sun terrace, and the stylish theater architecture create an ensemble that immediately stands out in pictures. Those photographing or planning social media content will find not only a stage here but several motifs in a single house: arrival, foyer, bar, terrace, lounge, and theater room. For private celebrations, this is a great advantage, as pictures from the evening do not appear interchangeable but carry a recognizable signature. This is exactly why the location is also described on the website as a place for celebrations of all kinds, weddings, corporate parties, prom parties, company celebrations, and customer events. The atmosphere is thus not only beautiful to look at but also functional when an evening should be emotional, festive, and memorable. ([variete-et-cetera.de](https://www.variete-et-cetera.de/gruppen-events/location))
History, Development, and Event Location with Character
The history of Variety et cetera begins with an idea from the traveling tent variety world. The founders Jörg Richter, Silvia and Ronny Cabello, and other artist colleagues were engaged in Berlin when they encountered the traveling political cabaret Lachsack. This led to the decision to establish their own variety theater. After the winter quarters in the Eifel, the founding of et cetera Varieté GmbH, and the restoration of wagons, tents, and equipment, the world premiere took place on September 1, 1992, in Travemünde. For seven years, the ensemble then toured as Germany's only traveling tent variety through the republic before the decision was made in December 1999 to leave the tents permanently in Bochum. These stages are central to the search intent for history, background, and Bochum reference because they explain why the house has an unusual identity that is neither a pure event hall nor a classic theater. ([variete-et-cetera.de](https://www.variete-et-cetera.de/ueber-uns/geschichte))
Since the establishment of the fixed theater building in 2011, the location has continuously developed. Previously, there was already a new foyer and a smoking lounge in 2007, the opening of the in-house kitchen in 2008, the redesign of the terrace area with a pond in 2012, the transformation of the smoking lounge into a VIP lounge in 2013, the expansion of the kitchen and the upgrading of lighting technology and backstage area in 2014, and since 2016, a foyer that is designed according to the show theme. Since 2020, UVC air purifiers have been providing additional air purification throughout the theater. Today, the house describes itself as an important cultural institution of the Ruhr area and a top address for variety and live entertainment. At the same time, Variety et cetera is bookable as an event location and has already been used for weddings, corporate parties, prom parties, company celebrations, and customer events. This mix of history, modern equipment, and flexible use makes the location in Bochum so valuable: it is lively, established, and at the same time open to new occasions, new shows, and new guests.
Food was under seasoned and staff needs to be more attentive to drink orders. Ordered wine 4 times and only came on the 5th. Restrooms clean but small. Good show. Some areas could be updated (boxes under the piano), some outdated decor etc.
